Glass
Glass, known for its excellent translucency, is perfectly suited for UV-assisted bonding processes.
Our UV LED systems are commonly utilized in manufacturing glass furniture and when encapsulating or sealing PV modules. Given the need for uniform exposure across large adhesive surfaces, the challenge lies in achieving stress-free curing. This is accomplished through a slow polymerization process, emphasizing the uniformity of UV light distribution over high intensity. For these purposes, our UV line or flood lamps are ideal for glass bonding applications.
In the jewelry and cosmetics sectors, UV-curing adhesives and encapsulants are employed for bonding delicate components. UV or UV LED point source emitters are used to ensure quick and thorough curing.
During the production of certain glass types or laminated glass—such as those used in building facades, structural glass elements, eyewear lenses, or acrylic glass—UV blockers may be incorporated. Despite this, UV bonding remains a preferred method. Long-wave UV LED lamps are particularly effective for reliably curing adhesives in these scenarios.
Examples of bonding applications:
- Bonding of glass furniture
- Jewellery
- Cosmetics industry
- Lenses for (sun)glasses
- Glass building fronts / structural elements / glass construction
- Wood-glass / metal-glass hybrid constructions
